Incase you may not know by now, but I’m an utter skincare fanatic……sometimes exciting me evermore than makeup! Addicted to trying every lotion and potion, the pure science that is behind some skincare these days is mind blowing. From budget to blatelently just throwing my money away, I’ve come across some fantastic products and a few months ago I came across SkinCeuticals. A jewel in the crown this surely is!
Now I do have to warn, these are spendy but bare with me until I fill you in on all the wizardry science behind the brand.
SkinCeuticals is a brand known world-wide for its effectiveness and potency of ingredients which work hard on your skin, offering real and visible results. You won’t stroll into your local pharmacy and find this neatly stocked, it’s pretty much only available in very selected stockists online and through some dermatologists. A “prescription” for your skin so to say, is advised to get the right product for your particular skin type or skin concern.
For the past number of weeks I have been using C.E. Ferulic. This is an antioxidant called Ferulic Acid and L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) that neutralizes the free radicals that accelerate the signs of ageing on our skin. Increased firmness and smoothness comes from Vitamin E, which helps to visibly reduce wrinkles. It is housed in a dark glass bottle (to protect from sunlight) and comes with a dropper. I use about 4-5 drops each time and it absorbs so quickly into the skin. It can smell a little weird at first, but anything with high potency Vitamin C will, but it quickly goes away. The beauty of this product is that as soon as you apply it and it sinks into the skin it cannot be rubbed or washed off and remains there for 72 hours, meaning you only really need to apply this every 3 days.
This is suitable for all skin types including sensitive and ideal for skin that is dry, dehydrated or showing pigmentation. After using this for minimum 6 weeks my skin looks brighter, more even and as I have quite bad acne scars, these have significantly reduced in redness too. Before using this my skin would sometimes flake by the end of the day, now it’s never dry and feels plump and hydrated. There’s no doubt this delivers results and quite fast too! It’s €150 for one bottle but if you had a wedding or a special occasion, a good run of this for 6 months or so would really benefit your skin. Sometimes one facial can cost near €100, with this you are feeding your skin constantly so you will look and feel like you have had a spa treatment everyday! Totally worth the money, trust me!
I’ve also been using in conjunction with the C.E. Ferulic, the Hydrating B5 Serum. This supercharges moisture to your skin due to the addition of hyaluronic acid. Those that are not familiar with hyaluronic acid, it attracts moisture to your skin like a little magnet, as it’s already found in our bodies. Using this under your usual moisturiser will make the product work 10 times harder and give maximum results. I use this every morning after washing my face, and before I apply my usual moisturiser. As it sinks into the skin, it dosen’t interfere with any makeup and actually helps your makeup looking fresh all day! This serum is around €70 but should last a good 7-9 months as you only need 1-2 drops each morning.
THE most important thing about using any of these products is that it is VITAL you use a sunscreen everyday. While we already know we should be wearing it anyway, but with any skincare like this, your skin is left more vulnerable than ever to burning and permanent pigmentation. If you were thinking of trying out this skin care regime, the Winter months would perhaps be the ideal time 🙂
