When I seen this mascara being talked about all over Twitter recently, I had to try it and see what the hype was about. I also read Karen’s rave review over at Lovelygirlybits, and this woman knows make-up like no other!
Seventeen is a makeup stand that to honest, I never really took much heed of. I remember having a few of their eyeshadows in my teenage years but that is really it. So off I went to Boots to pick this up. It was on offer for €5.89, with the usual price being €8.89. Without noticing I picked up “black/brown” instead of “black”. Just so you know, the colour is on the side of the box, not at the end where usual mascaras have the colour stated.
When I first seen the brush, I wasn’t overly impressed. All mascaras that I buy have a big fluffy bristles, I just find that they give me the most volume. This brush has a rubber head with both long and short bristles, and I really didn’t think that it would do anything it claimed to do!
The product description states:
- 94% of users saw more definition
- 93% of users saw separated lashes
- 92% of users saw long lasting results
- 76% of users said this mascara DOUBLED the volume of their lashes Vs bare lashes
After applying two coats:
- Does not clump
- Is long lasting, smudge proof & does not flake
- Adds volume and length from corner to corner
- Adds thickness to lashes
The secret to this mascara is to use the “zig-zag” motion when applying. This was the mistake I made when I first used it. Without this you just get a coat of colour, as the bristles are designed to really nestle into those lashes. I use the flat side with shorter bristles to pack on the product, then fan out with the longer bristles. I was able to easily apply the second coat without any clumping at all, and get to get all the little tiny lashes at the inner corner of the eye and at the bottom. This mascara lasted all day and didn’t budge one tiny bit! No flaking, no panda eyes at all. That itself is pretty cool!
(my lashes with just 2 coats of mascara and no eyeliner)
Overall I would highly recommend this mascara, and for the price it is definitely worth a try! I really do think is it as amazing dupe for Benefit “They’re Real”, it gives amazing definition and separated lashes, and dosen’t budge all day. Also it is so easy to remove with your usual make-up remover or cleanser, no tugging or lashes falling out!
Have you tried this mascara yet? Believe the hype, this one will be a re-purchase for sure!
Much love x
