I had been looking in awe on my Instagram feed at this product for a few weeks, and as you can imagine I was unbelievably ecstatic when it landed on my doorstep to review. The fact that a powder bronzer could be worn during the day and actually leave a tan on the skin after washing off was pretty too much to be true! So is it?
The product itself is a first powder bronzer to enter the ever competitive world of self-tanning, and upon release in the U.S. it sold out completely within 2 weeks. This is a loose bronzing powder that combines pure mineral crystals with DHA to give a lasting but natural to the skin. Available in 2 shades, Sunkissed (Light) and Bronze (Medium), it works by being applied over your regular liquid foundation, moisturiser or body moisturiser.
I was really impressed with the packaging. It’s a really sturdy jar which can take a lot of bashing and looks really pretty with the gold lettering and golden bronze lid. Quite similiar to a mineral powder foundation, the usual “tap and swirl” method is used to apply. The powder comes either on it’s own or with a kabuki brush and I have to say, the kabuki brush is one of the best I’ve tried! It’s so incredibly soft and dense enough to get a good amount of product without overload. It’s also tapered at the top which makes applying it to the face really effortless and ideal for contouring.
Unfortunately, I found that this didn’t tan my skin at all. There may be a few reasons for that though. I do have slightly dry skin – that may have been a factor or that usually tan does not show up very well on my face due to a lot of redness on my skin. Although I have quite fair skin, perhaps the Bronze shade would have worked better than the Sunkissed one. I tried with different liquid foundations, BB creams, just over moisturiser and really didn’t notice anything after washing my face.
In spite of this, I LOVE this product! It’s hands down the most natural bronzer I’ve ever used and as the powder is so finely milled, it’s melts into the skin and stays all day. Some bronzers tend to get a bit muddy looking as the day goes on, not this. The kabuki brush is also fantastic and I’ve found myself using it for setting powder too so I’m getting lots of use from it! While for me, this didn’t do what it claimed it would, I’m seriously loving it as an everyday bronzer and if it’s ever brought out in compact form, it would literally be THE perfect bronzer out there!
