From November to March, you can be guaranteed that I will be using all sorts of lotions and potions on my skin. To sum it up really – Winter hates my face! My dry skin goes flakey if I don’t keep it well moisturised and bright red if I use anything too harsh.
A few month’s ago I was sent this Nourishing Face Cream* from The Pink Cow Brand to review. I had never heard of them before as they are a New Zealand based company but quickly gaining interest worldwide. So what’s so unique about this brand? Well not only are their range of products 100% natural but they also contain colostrum. Let’s go into a little more detail:
What is Colostrum?
- Colostrum is produced by female mammals (in this case, cows) for approximately 72 hours after birthing.
- It is not milk but rather the starter of all life and completely utilised and accepted by our cells.
- It’s the most powerful, cell building and complete all natural ingredient known.
- Studies have shown it to limit the deterioration of cells during the ageing process (we are all up for that!) regenerate skin tissue and assist cell growth.
“Colostrum is an amazing resource of substances necessary to support the development and repair of cells and skin tissue”.

Phew! So after that science lesson we can see that this stuff is pretty amazing and not your average moisturiser but more like a superfood for your skin.
The packaging itself is quite cute and quirky and has a pump. I personally prefer when moisturisers come in a pump container, it’s so much more hygienic and all round easier to use. The formula of the moisturiser is very creamy – a little like a cleansing milk. This made me think that I needed to use quite a lot but this stuff is really concentrated so a little really does go a long way. It sinks into the skin really quickly and makes a perfect base for your makeup, as it leaves no residue on the skin. There is no overpowering scent it just smells ever so slightly sweet, which is barely even noticeable.
Two pumps of cream is perfect to cover your whole face but as I have quite dry skin, I would let that sink in for a few minutes and use another pump and massage in well. If you have normal to oily skin, I’s sure two would do the job perfectly.
After 4 weeks of use I noticed the redness in my skin had significantly reduced, and my skin was a lot more calmer than ever before. I also noticed less congestion around my nose and chin area (something I suffer with a lot) and my pores were less visible. It’s quite incredible that in such a short space of time, I could really start to see results!
I will certainly keep continue to use this moisturiser each morning and night, and after 6 weeks full use, I am only half way through the product – which is good going! If you suffer from redness or any other skin issues, I would highly recommend you give this a go. It is a little on the pricey side at €53.00 but it will last you a long time, and it has that magic ingredient that you just wont find in your usual moisturiser. Worth every penny in my eyes!
