The start of a new month and I’m getting down to my October favourites….although I’m a few days late! I have a mix of tan, skincare and makeup this month, so let’s see what made the cut.
Back in the Summer I was kindly sent this tan to review, and the few times I wore it I absolutely loved it! Queue me just about to write a blog post….I couldn’t find the tan…anywhere? In the sea of bottles, lotions and potions I have scattered all over the house, I eventually found it last month tucked away under my bed. So I’ve started using it again, and it’s a fab tan to use. What I like it that this is a violet based tan, especially for European skin tones, and replicates what your skin looks like naturally after tanning. No tangoing going on here! You can wash it off after 1 hour but I like to leave overnight and shower the next morning. Shop here
Catrice Powder Bronzer
I like to have a good pigmented bronzer for lightly applying on my neck and chest but I was on the hunt for one I could wear on my face without it looking obvious. I was in the chemist waiting on a prescription and of course I was pulled towards the makeup stands! Catrice is a brand I have been LOVING lately and I will be doing a full post on lots more Catrice products that I have, but this bronzer is a real winner. It’s a matte formula and the shade is light enough to use on my fair skin, giving a nice subtle contour or to use instead of blusher. The packaging is really sturdy for the budget price of just €4.49 and it’s a staple that will see me right through Winter.
Alpha-H Liquid Gold
Oh holy moly how have I gone without this until now?? I bought this 50ml travel size on Cult Beauty a few weeks ago after hearing Caroline Hirons sing it’s praises over and over again. Every second night I use this after cleansing – it does tingle slightly but I’m actually loving that feeling! You don’t use any night creams over this which took me a while to get used to, as I love to slather my skin before I sleep, but the results in the morning are nothing short of amazing. It’s honestly like the moisturising fairies were at your skin overnight!! My skin looks so clear and feels so hydrated!! After the sterling conversion this cost just over €20 so it’s pricy but I will definitely re-purchase after I finish this bottle. Shop here.
No. 7 Airbrush Away Foundation
This is a new foundation from No.7 and it’s like no other I’ve tried before! You can get perfectly matched by the No.7 girls in Boots so you get the right shade match, my shade was Cool Beige. The packaging it a little annoying in that it’s a little dropper that you use to drop the product onto your hand or brush, and it’s not great to be honest, but the formula itself totally makes up for this. It feels so weightless when you apply it, that it’s like you are just brushing your face without any product on your brush! The finish is beautiful and feels comfortable on my skin all day. I wouldn’t recommend this if you had oily skin, as I did get some shine and my skin is dry, but it was nothing some powder couldn’t fix. Shop here
Urban Decay Brow Tamer
I’ve been obsessed with brow mascaras ever since they launched a few years ago, they suit me perfectly for a natural defined brow without hardly any work! The problem I faced what the shades that some brow mascaras are available in, many are too “ruddy” for my skin tone, so getting a cool brown shade it a lot harder than I expected. This one from Urban Decay in “Neutral Brown” is the perfect shade for me and the formula is just the right consistency and sets the brow hairs without that awful hard, crispy feel. If you are on the hunt for a similar shade, you should really check this out. Shop here
First Aid – Ultra Repair Cream
This is a deluxe sample size I received at the Cocoa Brown lunch recently which I was delighted with and I’ve always wanted to try First Aid. This is for really parched, dry skin and it does exactly what it says. I love using this sometimes as a night cream or right after a clay mask as they tend to leave my skin quite dry and this just “hugs” my skin and leaves it feeling so hydrated. Shop here
Have you tried any of the above products?? How did you get on?
