I’m just realising from looking back at all my reviews, I haven’t really talked much about hair products that I like to use. I tend to change around things from time to time, but I generally stick to the same shampoo as it is the only one that I find works for me.
For the record I have naturally curly hair which I always keep straight. Years ago I had beautiful spiral-type curls, but once the GHD came on the scene, they were straightened right out of existence. Since then, any natural curl has pretty much gone, and I am left with a frizzy, un-manageable mane. I also have both highlights and a colour in my hair, so it takes some beating! Below are some of the products that I am really loving at the moment and find work great on my type of hair.
Kerastase Resistance Bain de Force Reinforcing Shampoo (€19.00 for 500ml)
I bought this huge bottle well over a year ago and I am still only gone half-way through it. Although these shampoos are a bit pricey, you only need very little product each time. If you suffer from weak and damaged hair, this is a fantastic investment as it reinforces the hair and leaves it super silky soft and shiny. There are 2 types you can choose from. Level 1-2 (which is the one I use) which is to get your hair back to good condition, after which you can you level 3-4.
Aussie Aussome Volume & Conditioning Mousse (€6.29 for 150ml)
When it comes to conditioners, I have to admit I don’t stick to a particular one. I use hair masks quite a lot, usually whichever ones are on offer in Tesco or the chemist. I have only started using this conditioner in the past 2 weeks and I am completely loving it! I didn’t think that a mousse-type conditioner could give my hair the conditioning it needed, but I was wrong. I’ve even received compliments on my hair since using it…how cool is that! I might do a full review on this as I love it so much and it will definitely be a re-purchase when it runs out.
Frizz-Ease Original Hair Serum (€8.60 for 50ml)
I have been using this serum since it launched way back in the 90’s. It was such a holy grail product for me back then as the glorious GHD had yet to be invented! It it fantastic at taming any type of frizzy hair, and you need such a small amount each time. You apply this to wet hair, so before you even towel dry. I leave this in the shower so I can pop a little in before I get out. I only use this mid to end section as it can be quite heavy on the hair if you load too much on. I find this fantastic for getting rid of the “puff-ball” hair if you are outside in humid or muggy / drizzly weather – this was MADE for Irish weather!
Tresemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Spray (€7.49 for 200ml)
Before blowdrying I always use a heat protection spray. I use straighteners each time after I blowdry, so this is vital for me. Since using it I have found my hair breaks a lot less and I tend to not have as many split ends. Also I’ve found the cheaper brands such as this one and V05, are just as good as the more expensive brands.
L’Oreal Extraordinary Oil (€12.79 for 100ml)
I’m really loving this oil AND it smells so good! Having bought this one well over 9 months ago, it’s really good value for money too. I use one pump after I’ve finished blow-drying and straightening my hair, to ease any fly-aways and also give some shine. You can also use as small amount of this on dry hair in-between washes to keep it smooth and tame and frizzies. I would just love if they done a travel-size as the glass bottle isn’t ideal to carry around in your bag.
I hope you enjoyed my Top 5. Do you use any of these products or do you think you would try any?
Much love x
