I have dabbled in many different primers both budget and expensive. Previous primers that I have used have all been liquid and with a very much silicone feel when applied on the skin. I was slightly hesitant at first with this I’ll admit, I just wasn’t too sure how this would apply and wear as it is a mousse consistency as opposed to a liquid.
What they say..
‘L’Oréal Paris Studio Secrets Smoothing Resurfacing Primer is inspired by professional make-up artists, this primer masks wrinkles and uneven textures in the skin, making the complexion feel smooth and soft, with a remarkable velvety touch’
It comes in a 15ml jar which some may dislike due to hygiene reasons, but personally once you use clean hands there’s not an issue. As I mentioned, it’s a mousse-like texture and to apply I dot over my face and massage in with my hands. You can’t use a brush for this, as the warmth of your fingers in needed to really help the product to melt and spread evenly onto your skin.
So how did this fair out under my usual foundation? Pretty darn well I have to say! I am always skeptical about products that claim to “blur” and “fill in” fine lines, this absolutely does! The finish from my usual foundation (MAC ProLongwear) was just flawless. Even though this is an already long wearing foundation, after a few hours you do see slight wear and settling into pores – nothing with this primer underneath though! I also found that this helped reduce shine throughout the day which was an added bonus.
I have dry skin and fine lines under and around the eye area. To be honest they don’t bother me hugely but hand on heart they were practically invisable using this. The whole eye area looked so smooth, and also stopped foundation / concealer from settling under the eye. It’s an amazing wee product and although the 15ml jar looks like it wont last long, you need surprisingly little on each application, so it will last a long time.
This is going to be a staple in my makeup routine and although I don’t like to use a primer everyday, I know that for work and nights out, I can rely on this trusty little pot of magic.
