April 1st saw the long awaited launch of La Roche Posay’s Serozinc to Ireland, and it was met with eager skin care fanatics like myself waiting to snap it up! It wasn’t until a whole week later until my local Boots had it stocked and just one left on the shelf! I’ll admit I only heard about this product a few months ago from conversations with other bloggers, and with my skin going through a bad phase, it came at the right time.
So what’s the hype? Serozinc is basically toning mist and contains just 3 ingredients:
- Thermal Water
- Zinc Sulphate
- Sodium Chloride (Yes, thats salt!)
Together all 3 help with skin surface irritations such as inflammation from acne and acne scarring, targets blemishes, controls oil, calms redness in the skin, eases razor burn (great for men post-shave) and baby nappy rash. Over repeated use it also helps tighten the appearance of pores. This would also be great in Summer to cool your skin throughout the day and ease and sunburn should it happen.
How I use it: As this is a toning mist, I use in the same way I would use a regular toner – which have all been relegated to the bathroom press and this takes centre stage! After cleansing at night I spray some on a cotton pad and wipe over my face to grab any leftover makeup and after that I spray more directly onto the skin and gently pat in. I use my serum and moisturiser as usual afterwards. In the mornings I just use on a cotton pad again before my moisturiser.
The verdict so far: I am using this about 2 weeks now and when I started I had awful cystic acne all around my chin and nose area. It was extremely red and inflamed and anyone who suffers from this know the pain associated with these cysts too! I used the Serozinc morning and evening with my usual skincare (which I will post separately this week) and the redness and inflammation went RIGHT down! I use a separate La Roche Posay product for acne (Effaclar AI) and this helps bring the size of the cyst down, while the Serozinc really helped with reducing the redness. I would have quite uneven skin tone around my cheeks and I’ve found it looks a lot clearer over the past 2 days.
Should you buy it? Yes! I would highly recommend this to everyone and although it says it’s for oily skin, it works perfectly fine with my dry skin. If you suffer from acne or breakouts like me, have blemishes or even just on the look-out for a refreshing toner, this is right up your street. La Roche Posay are such an amazing skin care brand that you know you can trust and at only €11.00 for 150ml, its not a bad price point.
Have you tried Serozinc yet? If not make sure to pop one into your Boots basket next time your there! Trust me, it will be your skin’s new Best Friend!
Thanks for reading! Much love,

i have been trying to get my hands on this everywhere! i don’t suffer too much from breakouts but it would be so handy to have in your bathroom cabinet!
It’s quite hard to find, I was lucky I managed to get the last one! I’d say its flying off the shelves!
I haven’t found a can locally yet but I got one on eBay last year that I still haven’t finished, I just use it as a toner or to help angry skin! It’s lovely and soothing. Hopefully once the initial hype dies down it will be easier to find!
It’s interesting reading other people’s reviews as for me it didn’t have any significant effects when compared to other thermal spring water face mist products. that being said, i’m a believer of using what works for your own skin 🙂
