A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending the Gucci Bamboo launch in The Shelbourne Hotel hosted by the lovely Fiona Cooke. It was only a couple of days previous to the invite that I was wandering around Boots and tested this out on a fragrance card…..I was hooked! Gucci constantly bring out the most beautiful perfumes and have always been a firm favourite for me when I wanted a “good wear” scent…..they are a little pricey to wear everyday, well for me anyway!
Quoted from Gucci…
Strong and graceful, one of Gucci’s most recognizable design signatures has defined references in today’s Gucci woman. Bamboo flourishes in extreme conditions. Its natural strength compares to steel. Slender and elegant, bamboo soars willowy over other vegetation. The modern Gucci woman shares bamboo’s characteristics. She balances strength and confidence with her innate femininity.. Like bamboo, she is an alluring mix of many sides.”
Lets get onto the perfume itself. Gucci Bamboo is a woody-floral scent so if you lean more against one of these, you will love this. The absolute winner for me is the first shot of Bergamot you first smell when you spray….so uplifting and beautifully sweet without being overly so. This perfume has a very soft feminine vibe being alluringly creamy and also powdery. The dry down of this is warm and woody and mixes SO well with the first fresh spritz when first applied.
The perfume notes are:
- top notes of bergamot
- heart notes of casablanca lily and ylang ylang extra-comoros
- base notes of sandalwood
I do find that when I apply this I can no longer smell it after a few hours, but all day I was getting compliments which means it’s still lingering on my skin long after I stop smelling it!
Perfume reviews are really the hardest to convey across as everyone’s scent “tastes” are very individual. But I would really recommend you try this out at your local pharmacy and perhaps ask for a sample if they have any. If you are on the hunt for a new fragrance for Autumn / Winter this may be a good one to check out. A 30ml bottle retails at €64.00.
Have you tried this perfume yet?

Sounds great! Do love a bit of Gucci.. 🙂

Sandalwood and Bergamot are two of my faves so I think I would like this! Nearly afraid to smell it in case I get the want 🙂
