As with many other beauty addicts, I am a total foundation junkie! I buy them like there is no tomorrow. Thankfully I have already found my HG for special occasions and times where I know it will stay perfect all day and that is MAC Prolongwear. But as its quite costly, I am always on the hunt for a cheaper equivalent for during the week.
My latest favourite is the Rimmel 25hr Long Lasting Foundation. This has been around for quite a while but I only picked it up a few weeks ago while doing the Tesco shop – as you do! While I do have dry skin, I try to stay away from any dewy finish foundation, I like to add any luminosity myself with a highlighter.
So the foundation itself is pretty impressive for under a tenner I must say! First of all I love a foundation in a glass bottle, always a straight off win for me. This also comes with a pump, another win! This new formula contain a “comfort serum” and this is immediatly noticable on application. It is extremely easy to work with and feel very silky on the skin. Some people have reported that it sets very quickly but as I use a buffing brush I didnt find that this was an issue. If you use your fingers to apply I could imagine it would be. The coverage is amazing and I only need 1 pump to get flawless coverage, I don’t find this very often in drugstore foundations.
So wearability. I have no idea why they called this 25 hour foundation. Anyone who wears foundation for 25 hours straight needs a good slap or a good excuse!! I found that I got about 5 hours before some wear and shine started, and thats with dry skin. If you have oily skin, I am not sure that this would be the foundation for you. I did find that when I use a primer underneath, wearing wasn’t a problem and it stay put for a good 8-10 hours. There was still some shine, but I can deal with that. There was no caking or settling into pores either.
Overall, this is a pretty nifty offering from Rimmel. I am a NW15/20 in MAC for reference and I went with Soft Beige. It was ever so slightly darker than my skin tone, but when blended in, it looked perfect. It looks a lot darker in the bottle, so make sure to try the testers out. Also I didn’t notice this shade to be overly pink or cool toned, although the lighter shades did seem to be slightly more on the pink side.
This is priced at €8.90 so very budget friendly! If you have dry / normal skin and looking for something to tide you through work and to give your more expensive foundations a break, I would highly recommend you try this one out.
Much love,

I recently got this as well and was quite impressed how good it is. I have a combination/ oily skin but it still looks beautiful once applied and it lasts good 5-6 hours so not bad really for drugstore foundation. x
