First look at the New Vichy Idéalia Skin Sleep Cream

DSC_0315_Fotor

Last week I attended a beautiful Vichy launch which was to showcase the newest addition to the Idéalia line. You may be familiar with the Idéalia Day Cream and the amazing Idéalia Serum, the newest addition to the family is a luxurious night cream. On the evening we learnt that this is not your average night cream, but a cream capable of recreating the restorative effects of deep sleep! This had me interested…..very interested! In Korea they have “sleeping packs” which focus on skin renovation overnight and this to me is the European version. I’ve read about the Korean sleeping packs before so this is right up my alley being a bit of a skin care nut!

So what does lack of sleep do to our skin?

Lack of sleep triggers a release of the stress hormone cortisol, which in excessive amounts can break down skin collagen, the protein that keeps skin smooth and elastic. In excess amounts, this break down of collagen can cause premature ageing. The effects of which are visible on the skin’s surface and include drawn features, dullness, irregular skin texture, uneven skin tone and fine lines.

What will Idéalia Skin Sleep do to help?

Vichy promise us that this night cream will stimulate all the skin’s deep sleep mechanisms no matter how many hours of sleep we get. It’s one of the reasons why they say this would be ideal for new Mum’s, people who travel different time-zones frequently and night workers who may not get the required amount of sleep they need.

The active ingredients are:

Hyaluronic Acid. This stimulates cell regeneration and is also what helps hydrate and plump the skin.

LHA. Derived from Salicylic Acid, this smooths and evens out the surface of the skin through it’s gentle exfoliating action. This is what will make your skin look more luminous the next morning.

Caffeine. This naturally active ingredient drains and decongests the skin which helps counter the skins of fatigue. This part I like!

Packaging, Texture, Overall thoughts?

It’s beautifully packaged as is all the products from the Idéalia range and house in a glass jar with a beautiful pink hue. Something that will look very pretty indeed on the night stand!

The texture is something that’s quite new to me in that it is a gel balm texture. Not exactly a gel but not exactly a balm or cream, it feels very luxurious. Surprisingly, only a small amount is needed as it just glides onto the skin like silk and while it looks quite heavy in consistency, it feels so light and refreshing on the skin and sinks in immediately. I actually look forward to using it each night now! It also has a green tea and jasmine fragrance which has been proven to have a relaxing effect. This I’m not sure I found so much but might be different for someone else.

I’ve only been using this a week so I’m very much writing a first impressions post, but so far I’m really loving it. I don’t think I’ve ever used a Vichy product that disappointed me to be honest! My skin does feel extremely soft in the morning and it’s also helping to keep any dry patches at bay. I don’t look any younger and my fine lines have not magically erased, but it’s such a lovely product to use. I’m quite fussy when it comes to night creams and serums because to me, it’s the most important time to use them. This little pot will most definitely be used up and quite possible re-purchased! If your on the look out for a new night cream, this would be a great choice. It’s at a very good and reasonable price point too at €28.00 considering the ingredients that it contains. It’s available in pharmacies from the end of August.

Do you think it’s something you will purchase?

Thanks for reading

Leanne xx
