I am a gal who loves her neutral eyeshadows – I tend to totally shy away from colour! With a neutral palette you simply just can’t go wrong. You can get endless wear from the shadows for daytime, then smoke it up a little for night time. For years I had always just picked up single eyeshadows every so often but my first proper neutrals palette was of course the “Naked2” by Urban Decay. I have got so much use from that that I am on palette no. 2! With the Urban Decay one costing around €44, they can be a little pricey for some people.
Here are a few other alternatives which I have tried and tested, and I find work just as well!
TheBalm Nude’tude Palette (€32.00)*
While this is most pricey one here, it is really good value for 12 high quality eyeshadows. The colours in this are amazing and I love that they are not all too neutral, you have some vampy cranberry and dark smokey browns thrown in too. The shadows are very creamy to touch and blend like a dream, so it feels much more expensive than it is. It also comes with a brush (angled at one end) but I didn’t find that great to be honest. Other than that, I would highly recommend this, especially coming into Winter as the mixture of colours are just perfect for the season transition! Available on Cloud10Beauty.com.
Sleek – i-Devine Au Natural Palette (€9.99)
I have been using the Contour and Blush palette from Sleek for a while and I really love it! I decided to try one of their eyeshadow palettes, and for a tenner how could you go wrong! Each palette has 12 shadows, (Nubuck and Cappuccino are my most used!) and there is a range of different palettes to choose from. I did however find that the shadows can start to slightly wear off after a few hours, so if you have an eyeshadow primer, pop that on first and then this shouldn’t be an issue. Available at sleekmakeup.com.
NYC – (€4.99)
I received this palette through a blog swap and actually couldn’t believe how good this little gem is! The grey colour in particular is great just on its own to open up the eyes, and the mauve colour is amazing as a crease contour. Apart from the four shadows, it also includes your primer and highlighter. The colour pay-off on these is really fab and they last all day – even without using the primer provided. There are no names on the shadows themselves as each palettes is based on your eye colour. This one is for brown eyes and although I have grey / blue eyes, i found the colours worked out fine! Available in selected pharmacies.
A few more…
A few other neutral palettes caught my eye! I haven’t tried any of these but I may invest as they are also quite “pocket friendly’ and handy to have for travel.
