It feels so long since I done a favourites post! The fact the Summer is over is just something I can’t deal with….am I alone with saying it was the worst Summer weather ever? This month’s favourites are both July & August all squished together, packed with the stuff I have used non-stop! Let’s get cracking….
Urban Decay Naked Smoky*
Without a doubt this HAD to be in my favourites, I’m still in awe just looking at it! I’m a fecker for packaging as every beauty addict will nod their head to, and Urban Decay never disappoint. Packaging aside, the palette itself is amazing. Practically all of the other palettes I own are all neutrals and while some may think you won’t get as much use out of this – believe me you will! While a smokey eye may not be practical for every day, these shadows are really buildable so you can do a wash of colour, without looking like you are off to a nightclub at 8am! Another use is as eyeliners and this is where I have found this palette a gem. By wetting an angle brush, I love using Smolder (a dark vampy purple) and Dagger (a gunmetal blue) as eyeliners. Bittersweet & High are getting great use also as pop colours or again as a light wash for daytime.
Rimmel Wonder’full Mascara
Rimmel mascaras have always been a bit hit and miss for me, but this one with Argan Oil is definitely one to try! I’m usually not a fan of big fluffy wands but this one is actually really good! There is a little ball part on the top that has no purpose but to just annoy you, but once you get used to it, it’s grand. The formula is a right winner though, absolutely no clumps and it won’t get flakey by evening time. This one in particular is not waterproof but it’s stayed put all day with no smudging. The best part is it’s easy to remove at night so I think this will be a re-purchase when it runs out.
SkinCeuticals C.E.Ferulic & Hydrating B5*
I already featured the C.E Ferulic in my Beauty before Bed post and while I will do a full-length post on both of these, I HAD to include them in my favourites. I call them the “Ferrari” of skin care as the results you get from these products are quick overwhelming to say the least! C.E. Ferulic is an anti-oxidant which reduces free radicals that accelerate the signs of ageing. Once this product is applied to the skin, it can’t be washed off so it’s active for 72 hours. The glow from your skin is amazing after just one use, and my skin tone in general has really improved. With skin care, I would always recommend getting the best serum you can get, and this would definitely be one of them. Hydrating B5 is a gel-serum which is applied before moisturiser. It contains hyaluronic acid which of course binds moisture to the skin. I love using this at night under my usual moisturiser or whenever my skin feels particularly dry and leaves my skin super-soft and moisturised the next day.
Sí – Giorgio Armani
I got a bottle of this last Christmas and totally run out just before Summer. I adore this perfume – it’s a mixture of light musk and vanilla and I get so many compliments when I wear it! I picked up another bottle from an Irish website called Pop-Chic for an amazing bargain – I was delighted with myself! There is a new Intense version out now so I might get that this Christmas 🙂
The Make Up Box – Brow Balm*
We all know brows are big news so I decided to get my act together and start using a brow balm instead of my usual brow mascaras. The Make Up Box are based in Naas and they have their very own makeup line which includes this Brow Balm. The formulation is so easy to work with – not too creamy but will still glide easily through the brow hairs. I thought using a product like this would take ages in the mornings, but it’s so quick and easy and my brows look a lot more natural than using a regular eyebrow pencil or mascara.
L’Oreal Infallible 24 hr Foundation & Mattifying Primer
I already done a full blog post on the foundation a few months back, and I’m STILL loving it! I picked up the primer a few weeks ago and the two of them are a match made in heaven! Nothing budges, nothing looks cakey, nothing looks dry…..it’s probably the best matte foundation I’ve ever used! The shade Vanilla suits my skin tone perfectly but with a tan, I look a little washed out. I decided to pick up Rose Beige when I bought the primer which thankfully is not overly pink and matches my tan great.
White Cardamom & Sage Scented Candle from Penneys
My love affair with Yankee will never cease but I just can’t afford them at the minute so I picked up this White Cardamom & Sage candle in Penneys. I’ve tried other scented candles from Penneys over the years and always ended up throwing them out – mostly due to them just smelling of burning plastic! This one though is a keeper, it’s a lovely light fragrance which smells so much more expensive than it is! It’s hand-poured and you get 30 hours burning time all for just a fiver! You can also re-use the jar afterwards!! I can’t wait to see what they have for the Christmas collection! If you haven’t picked up one of these – get one or 3!!!
Is there anything here you’ve loved too? Let me know!
